To ancient stargazers, the night sky was made of "fixed stars" that moved together in predictable patterns. However, five celestial bodies (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn) broke this rule. They wandered aimlessly and erratically against the background stars, shifting their speeds and occasionally appearing to move backwards.  Figuratively, the Wandering Star represents freedom and exploration.
